Our Pebble Binder is designed to secure gravel, creating a robust, porous surface that is suitable for diverse applications and environments. This product effectively binds various types of gravel, ensuring a stable and uniform surface ideal for both aesthetic and functional uses.

Material Composition
This product is a polyurethane based gravel binder, distinguished by its superior durability and performance.

Advantages Over Alternatives
The use of polyurethane in this product offers significant advantages over lower-cost, water-based gravel binders. Polyurethane binders are far more resilient and maintain their integrity over time, making them the preferable choice for areas subjected to regular foot or vehicular traffic. Unlike water-based binders, which require frequent reapplications due to their lesser strength, this binder provides a lasting solution without the need for constant maintenance. This makes it an ideal choice for pathways, driveways, and other high-traffic areas where longevity and durability are essential.

Gravel-Lok is a Polyurethane Based Gravel Binder.
Why it matters: Polyurethane binders perform far better long term than low-cost water based gravel binders. Additionally, due to their decreased strength, water based binders are not suitable for regular foot or vehicular traffic without frequent re-application.

Use Pebble Binders For Beautiful Garden Pathways And Other Landscaping Projects

Adding a pleasant touch to landscaping is important for many homeowners and landscapers alike. Creating pathways or patios will bring your landscaping together and allow others to enjoy your hard work. Along with other materials on the market, pebble binders have become a popular material for combining beauty with functionality for your landscape and your taste. In this article, we will go over the features and characteristics of permeable pebble binders, their benefits, how to install them properly, required maintenance practices, and what they are used for.

About A Permeable Pebble Binders

Permeable Pebble Binders are resin-based systems that bond aggregates and natural pebbles creating a porous yet solid surface. The surface allows water to filter through, reducing runoff, and encouraging groundwater recharge. Groundwater recharge is the process where water moves downward from the surface water to underground water.

These binders have a UV-stable polyurethane resin that guarantees durability and longevity even in the harshest of weather conditions.

The Benefits

The Environment: Reduced Runoff - Because permeable pebble binders are porous, water will seep into the ground reducing surface runoff as well as the risk of flooding. In turn, it's an excellent choice for the environment.

Groundwater Recharge: These binders allow water to enter the soil and replenish groundwater levels.

Erosion Control:The surface of the binder will reduce soil erosion by stabilizing the ground and preventing washouts.

Natural Aesthetic Appeal:Using natural pebbles will give pathways and patios a natural organic appeal that will blend beautifully into the landscape.

Adaptable In Design:The binders come in an array of colors and sizes to create a unique look and design to boost the look of your outdoor surroundings.

Enduring And Little Maintenance: These binders are UV-stable preventing discoloration and a weakened state caused by exposure to the sun. The binders require very little maintenance and cleaning while reapplication is only needed once in a while.

Safety Features: These binders offer non-slip textured surfaces to prevent slipping and falling

Comfortable To Walk On: The exceptionally smooth surface of the bound pebbles makes it comfortable to walk on and therefore ideal for pathways, patios, and public walkways.

Installation

Installing a permeable pebble binder pathway and patio requires a few steps to create a sturdy, long-lasting surface:

Planning And Designing: Measure and mark where the pathway will be located. Select the material by choosing the kind and color of the pebbles and make sure you have the right binder for your project.

Prepare The Site: Excavate the chosen area to a depth of 4 to 6 inches to create a uniform base.

The Base Layer: Add a base layer of crushed stone or gravel for stability and good drainage and then compact the layer for a sturdy foundation.

Install The Edging Restraints: Place the edging material around the perimeter to keep the pebbles and binder in place. The materials should be wood, plastic, or metal.

Mix And Apply The Binder: In a clean receptacle, mix the pebbles and resin binder in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Pour the mixture on the prepared base and spread it evenly using either a rake or trowel. The mixture should be approximately 1 to 2 inches thick.

Compact And Finish

Use a roller or tamper to compact the surface making sure the pebbles are securely in place. Allow the binder to cure according to the manufacturer's recommendations which is usually 24 to 48 hours before using the pathway or patio.

Maintenance

Maintenance for permeable pebble binders is pretty clear. Here are some suggestions for keeping your pathway looking great:

Pavers on Gravel

Clean Regularly: Sweep the surface using a broom to remove leaves, debris, and dirt. On a low setting, use a pressure washer to remove any stubborn algae or dirt from the surface.

Controlling Weeds: Use a pre-emergent herbicide to prevent weeds from growing through the porous surface. This herbicide is a chemical that will prevent germinated weed seedlings from becoming established. Manually pull out weeds that have sprouted and be sure to remove the roots.

Reapply Resin: Annually inspect for signs of damage or wear and tear.

Reapply The Binder: If the binder looks like it's degrading, thoroughly clean the area and apply a fresh coat of resin to maintain the surface.
